Fine results on a DSLR if stopped down to 2,8 and more. Light and compact, sharp, good colours and contrast and often a very good bokeh. And it's cheap 2ndhand.

The Bokeh is good till very good. The lens is pretty sharp wide open and very sharp stopped down. Distortion isn't a problem. Fall off is sometimes visible at f1,8 but actually no problem in field conditions. A must have for me.
