An excellent lens that can be found second hand at very reasonable prices. It's lighter than the f2.8 version but still requires a mono-pod or tridod. If you don't need AF it's a wonderful lens.

I found last week a very good copy of the excellent Nikon 400mm f3.5 ED AI-S lens for an excellent price. The lens is used but not abused and picture result is also excellent. Not so heavy like my other 400mm f2.8 AI-S but still very difficult to hand hold so I sugest the use of a good tripod.
