I own the third version of the Leica Summilux-R, 35mm f1.4, the ROM one. I use it with a Sigma SD9 , modified to accept only Leica-R lenses. This lens is just remarkable . Previous incarnations were outstanding for Available Light work but not for much else, since during the day they had Soft Contrast and were not very sharp, confining their use mostly to the night .

But this latest one ,when stopped down to the optimum aperture of f4 ,is much sharper and contrastier than any Summicrom or even the 60mm Macro Elmarit , which is a lot to say for a lens that was originally designed to capture contrasty night light. This dual nature , makes this lens to have a tendency to stay in camera day and night and for you to develop new shooting habits , like getting up close . It is an expensive lens , yet it hardly appears for sale on eBay . It is a keeper.

You can see it at work in my personal Gallery at :http://www.pbase.com/luis_a_guevara/image/90215060
