generaly I find this lens is suit for shotting sport and bird, and forget those people who hates being taken picture and retain privacy right, especially in US, they are too sensitive, ugly, and not cute, if you do that, they will probably call 911 and put you in jail. Not in Russian and Canada, nice, friendly people, they even make poses allow you take picture of them, and there makes you think life is beuatiful

That's what monopods are for! But yes, I agree; after a full day of hauling this thing around I get exahusted.

This lens is a great lens and pretty much a 'must have' for serious sports shooters. However, I'm not sure that at just under 12 pounds it's very realistic to think many people are going to hand hold this lens for very long.

This lens is a stellar performer and the IS makes it actually hand-holdable. For example, this image:

very goog but too heavy, better go for the DO.
