When my back hurts too much to drag out a pile of primes this is my go to lens. Stopped down a bit this thing is as good as any L zoom I've tried (and didn't buy because of this lens!) This thing is sharp, fast and fun to use!

Always in my XTi, this lens is very sharp and is really better at f8. See example here at 105mmhttp://www.pbase.com/paes/image/104437318

I love this lens. It's packed with great features - like full time manual focus and an objective lens that doesn't rotate.

Completely agree with other comments. it's a great cheap lense that I use 90% of the time, unless I need wide angle, or in low light.
You'll need the flash for indoor shots and dark areas.
Fast and accurate focus. Samples:http://www.pbase.com/bonfas/today
Great value for money, don't hesitate, go ahead.

The 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 II USM is a pretty good lens for the money. At F/8, it is very hard to distinguish pics from this lens from my other lens ( 135F2 and 70-200 LIS).

I guess that you pay ( a lot) extra if you need/like F/2 or F/2.8 or like IS. But at around F/8, this little lens performs as well as lens that are 8 times more expensive. Hence it is good for outdoors, bright days. It is light and looks strong. It has a metal mount. All in all, quite a lot going for this lens --- WONDERSTRUCK
