Leonard Knight

The creator of Salvation Mountain in the California desert near Niland
takes a break from his work to proudly display his mountain
on the cover of The San Diego Reader.

The Reader used my photograph for the cover shot and I was dropping off a few copies to him
since he lives out in the middle of nowhere and doesn't have access to it.
I also brought him a folding metal ladder
to make his daily climbing tasks easier.

Dan, I love your galleries on Salvation Mountain. This guy is amazing, but you know that already. How very kind of you to bring him a ladder! I'm sure he appreciated it very much. He is most definitely, a unique personality and artist. Go, Leonard! Thanks for these great photos, Dan, and congrats on your photo being used for the magazine cover. It's defintely worthy of publication. ;) W.
