A mainstay in the town of Julian, situated in the hills
north of San Diego and an enclave that survived the fire through firefighter's
efforts at a "last stand".
Julian was thriving as I stopped in today (Nov.8th) and people were lined up
for their hot apple pie which is a real treat and a major reason visitors flock here.
The town retains it's charm even though the surrounding areas were devastated by the fires.
Many areas are still off limits and crews are hard at work replacing burnt telephone poles
and accessing the damage to communites far and wide.
Healing will take a long time and the scars are very deep to the environment
throughout the southland.
