We arrived at Lipsi marina just after 4:30 after motoring through gale force winds. The first order of business was a swim in the quiet bay just over the rise to the north of the marina, followed by a hot water shower at a guest house. Refreshed, we headed out to explore for a few hours. There seem to be as many churches in Lipsi as there are houses. One story we heard is that when Lipsi was settled, the new residents had to build a church if they built a house. This would certainly account for the huge number of blue-domed roofs that adorn the land. Dinner that night was at a taverna, followed by icecream from a wonderful little cafe (which we headed for in the morning for chocolate croissants and coffee). That night the wind was high and the yachts bobbed continuously. By 3 am a few of us were out on deck checking the lines and were greeted with a perfect crescent moon behind the church on the hill. Unfortunately, all photographic efforts to capture the beautiful scene were fruitless.
