2011 Ride to No Where or Camp Scheideck

The Ride to No Where - so named because Camp Scheideck is located in the middle of nowhere. This is an old quaint settlement established in the late 1880's by the Scheideck Family from Germany who were looking for a place that reminded them of southern Germany. The Scheideck family owned the property on Reyes Creek in Ozena Valley untill 1978. It was sold again in 1990 to a rancher and plumber named Ozzie Osborn - not the singer. Located 3.5 miles east of Hwy 33 on Lockwood Valley Road take a small paved road maked with a sign "Reyes Creek" The old sign stating "Camp Scheideck Lodge" has long since fallen over. Once on this narrow paved road you cross through the waters of Cuyama River and up the hill approx. 1.5 miles to Camp Scheideck. The bar serves food and drink at a reasonable price and is becoming increasingly popular as a motorcycle destination. Some call it an oasis in the middle of no-where.
