Cherish the Ladies was formed in 1983 and their 8th album includes guest perormances by Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Liam Clancy Lika Bloom, Brian Kennedy, Eric Weissberg, Liam O'Flynn and Matt Molly. They have collaborated with Emmylou Harris, Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, the Clancy Brothers and James Taylor on the previous 7 albums. Their performance with the Boston Pops earned them a 1999 Grammy nomination. The group consists of; Joanie Madden, the acknowledged leader is the first American to ever win the Senior All-Ireland Championship on whistle. Mary Coogan plays the guitar, mandolin and banjo. She has been named one of the top 4 Celtic guitarists by Acoustic Guitar Magazine. Mary Rafferty plays the flute, tin whistle, accordian and concertina. Dierdre Connolly is the lead singer and plays the tin whistle. Donna Long plays the piano and fiddle. Marie Reilly plays fiddle and tin whistle and also played with "Riverdance". Father Charlie Coen opens the show with some jokes, music and singing.
