Choibalsan is the capital of Dornod aimag. Initial impressions are that it is a pretty awful place but in fact it is a vibrant town with people doing what people do everywhere - mixing socially and enjoying their families. The town was devastated when the Russians pulled out in the late 1980's. Choibalsan was a front line defence in the Cold War between USSR and China
