Tolkien's Trees

Avebury, England

This stitched mosiac image of the much loved tree group at the East Gate of Avebury Stone Circle in Wiltshire prints out at 20"x22",
without enlargement and represents a massive 115 megapixel image. These trees reveal their inter-locked roots
on the sloping bank of the outer circle, and are reputed to have inspired J.R.Tolkien to write'The Lord of the Rings'.
The image was taken on a very cold but bright & sunny late afternoon in January 2005.
In the full size image you can clearly read the messages carved on the trees over time.
It is available to buy as a giclee print from my website www.skylightpublishing.com

other sizes: small medium original
