Delaware Co., NY

This injured bird (Ruffed Grouse?)
was found in the middle of Margret Mountain Road.
We drove past it, then backed up to see what was up.
A crow must have come by as we passed - when backing up
we saw it peck the bird, then leave. Other images revealed it's
eyelid was sliced, likey from the crow.

Don't know how the bird was injured in the first place, but
it seemed like it was stunned or dying. We put it off the road (w/o a struggle)
leaving it to it's natural future (we gave it a chance to recover, we felt,
but I think the crow or possibly internal injuries will win out).

I was about to drive off, when I thought to get some shots of it.
My wife thought that in poor taste, as it was likely dying as we looked on.
I'd have agreed, if the first impulse was to take a shot. Different realities, I guess.
