I am not able to grow evergreen azaleas as a foundation planting for a northeast exposure.(I live in eastern PA in the Cumberland Valley). I get early morning sun year-round (until approx. 10 a.m) and shade for the rest of the day. My real problem is the westerly wind. It never seems to stop from November through March and my azaleas just wither and die. Would I be more successful planting deciduous azaleas?
