I have been generally happy with the colors of azalea pictures I have been taking. Then I happened to take repeat pictures of this azalea* on different days, where one set of pictures was taken on a sunny day, and another set on a cloudy day.

The next step was to explore the obvious color differences. I did this by holding an appropriate RHS Colour Chart fan under a blossom, and taking pictures under different lighting conditions. In every case I let the camera choose the color balance, f stop and shutter speed to use. I have not changed the colors in any way.

Those pictures are arranged from dark to light. From them, I get the idea that both the amount of light and the time of day may affect the color rendition.

* A delightful little plant covered with blooms, which gets a lot of afternoon sun and holds up well. The plant is 6''h x 16''w, and the flower is 2'' to 2 1/4'' across. Unfortunately, I have lost the label and don't know what azalea it is, other than its working name 'no label pink 3'..
