Various covered bridges of New England. Most of them can be found in the state of Vermont. They were originally built to cover and protect roads and railroad river crossings. Now they have become a quintessential part of America with people driving hundreds of miles to see them, photograph them and drive across them! My particular favourite is the covered railroad bridge at Shoreham.
