The Empire Sandy is Canada's largest sailship. Launched in England in 1943, she served as a salvage tug in WWII. From the 1950s to the 1970s she operated as a logging tug on Lake Superior, named the Chris M. Converted to a 3 mast schooner in 1985, the Empire Sandy is now a tour ship on Lake Ontario, and docks at Spadina Quay in Toronto Harbour. More information can be found at www.empiresandy.com.
The Chris M was named after our Grandfather, Chris Michels, so there is a real sense of family pride in her storied history.
