At the end of 2006, I needed a challenge as I felt I was falling into an f8 & something complacency trap. Therefore, when Lee gave a lecture at one of my local camera clubs about PaD, I thought I would give it a go to try to get my eye in again.

I definitely jumped out of my comfort zone in doing this, but it was good to have to think of something different every day - and that was my only rule: Take a picture every day and post it as soon as possible. Over the course of the year I found that I increased my Photoshop usage, but where you see a "straight" shot, it will be "as was" and not montaged or similarly cheated....

Some of the stuff I posted was pure rubbish, but I am very happy with others - which I have included in my favourites gallery. However, because I tried (and succeeded) in keeping the challenge "pure", I found that the quality of my output dropped a bit, especially towards the end of the year when the dark evenings drew in. I realise that there are people on Pbase who have kept a PaD going for 3 or even 4 years, but I had to remember that my own personal objective in doing PaD was not one of longevity, but to improve my photography. My feeling was that the relentless nature of the challenge was, for me, occasionally making me lazy and resulted in me posting some substandard work under the excuse of "It'll do for a PaD".

Therefore I need a different challenge for 2008, upon which I am yet to decide. However, I have decided to keep up my Pbase presence with a more leisurely "PESO", so watch this space.....
