TWA Lockheed L-1011 Tri-Star, Registration N31023

Kingman-Mohave County Airport (IGM)

This plane was delivered to Trans World Airlines (TWA) on June 20 1974 and flew until it was retired on September 4 1997, at which time it was brought here and has sat in this spot ever since. In 23 years of flying this bird had logged 71,299 hours and 21,963 landings, making it one of the highest-time L-1011s. The paint is 1975 TWA color scheme, which is now quite faded by the Arizona sun.

The L1011 is and was a better aircraft then the DC10 or MD11. What a shame to see airplanes wind-up this way.

Nice image of the L-1011, Just saw one depart MSP airport as I was landing. Look forward to seeing more of your images from the boneyard.
