My New Zealand friend Gail was waiting when (after a 24 hour flight) I got off the plane in Auckland. To catch the tide, we drove straight to he Miranda coast. Miranda is the home to both breeding New Zealand & wintering Arctic Shorebirds. With more time and better lighting, the photographic possibilities can be phenomenal. A month could easily be spent with the camera! However, blurry eyed from lack of sleep, I only had part of a single day myself to capture this remarkable place. From Miranda, we drove back to Auckland. Still, "bedtime" still didn't come for another 12 hours. That made it a grand total of 60 straight hours for me from bed to bed. As a friend back home later said, "You can always catch up on your sleep in the future when you get old."
