I agree. The trail to Brooks Falls is a Grizzly Bear - as well as human - trail.

So the question is not "if" you'll encounter bears on the trail. It is "when" and "how" close. The rule is that if a bear is on the trail, the human takes a detour into the woods. Of course, you have to check out the woods to make sure there are not more bears in the direction of your detour.

Every single time I took the trail to the Falls, I was forced to take a detour into the woods. That's just the way things go at Brooks. This was one of those occasions. I didn't stop to take a better photo of mom and baby together. I kept moving to put distance between me and the bears. Liz
