To quote US Accuweather: "What a way to end a holiday weekend."

Why is it called the Full Flower Moon? This tradition of naming Moons is rich in history.
We use Full Moon names that were used during Native American and Colonial times to help track the seasons. Depending on the tribe, May’s Full Moon was called the Full Flower Moon as well as Mother’s Moon, Milk Moon, and Corn Planting Moon. The May Moon marked a time of increasing fertility, with temperatures warm enough for safely bearing young, a near end to late frosts, and plants in bloom.

However, today, we are not having normal May weather. "Warm Enough" temperatures (May 2018) meant 96 degrees farenheit with 90% humidity. During the daylight hours, my outdoors plants were wilted (not thriving) in the high heat and unrelenting sun... I had to water twice. After it had cooled down a bit, I was outside in the dark watering the plants again. That's when I noticed the moon.
No matter what time of year that it is, the sight of a full moon is as mesmerizing in modern times as it was back in Colonial days.
