I'm beginning to think we need to put a sign outside of our Solar Room door saying "Birds Welcome".

In between Mama and Papa Cardinal flying in & out to feed their baby, this Hummingbird briefly flew into the room to check things out.

Because I quickly grabbed the closest camera that had any zoom to the lens, I ended up with the 100-400 lens with the extender attached.

Thus, I was automatically stuck @ f/8 in low light. To get enough camera speed for a darting Hummingbird, I then had to push my ISO waaaaaay up to 12,800. Not ideal camera settings. Still, in low, diffused light, I did capture the subject. Less noise would have been better, of course. But considering my shooting situation, I'm not displeased. This little fellow was not taking off & landing anywhere. He was just flying around randomly. So I'm pleased to have gotten a half way decent photo of him in flight. - inside the house in low light.

Back lighting from the window was a major problem (thus the use of exposure compensation). Unfortunately, I couldn't get enough light to take an "in focus" photo without the bird being near the window. So I had to tolerate the back lighting. This was totally unexpected and fun camera practice. His little fluttering wings sounded like a bumble bee in the house. After checking things out inside, he flew back out the door.

For frame of reference, our Solar Room is 12x80 feet in size and not tiny. It is a totally indoors room (part of our house) that extends across the entire back of our home. Time of day for the above photo was late afternoon with diffused low lighting.
