With severe thunderstorms headed our way, I heard a boom outside. When I looked out the window, I saw this!
The local country club about 3 miles from us puts on an annual Labor Day Fireworks Display that we can sometimes see over the trees in our backyard. Because it is supposed to rain heavily tomorrow - Labor Day - the Country Club must have decided to do that display tonight. Also because the bad weather was quickly approaching, they must have also decided to do the 20 minute display all at once in about 6 minutes.
This is a hand held image with my camera settings all wrong... I just grabbed whatever body I could find and whatever lens was close by, combined the two, and ran outside to see if I could capture anything at all. Things were happening too fast for me to do put into practice any of my previous firework photography skills. So I had to learn some new ones tonight in the dark.
My shots were all hand held.
Frankly, I didn't expect any of the images to turn out at all. However most turned out as well as this one. Maybe not as great as most of my firework images, but not that bad either.
I was pleasantly surprised.
It's now pouring outside with Flash Flood warnings out.
Because of I still have gold on my mind following "The Discovery of King Tut" exhibition,
I selected this image as my Photo of the Day purely based on its colors.
