I NEVER thought I'd be taking photos with a tablet. But I was obviously wrong.
My husband did another "I love you" thing, and he surprised me with the new WATERPROOF Sony 32GB Xperia Tablet http://store.sony.com/p/Sony-Tablet%2C-water-resistant%2C-quad-core/en/p/SGP312U1/W

I wanted a tablet to read that I could use in the bathtub, and this is finally it.
Still, that doesn't yet explain the photo above. The photo subject is a fresh bouquet of colorful mixed flowers that my dear husband also gave me.
Wanting to keep the memory of these lovely flowers, I decided there is no better way than through photography. Before now, I always thought that doing photography with a tablet is a little stupid. But I needed to try the tablet out. End result of my test is that I still have no plans to seriously use a tablet camera for most things. Tablets are just too awkward for serious photography; plus the image quality just isn't what I'm used to.
However, a program called "Kaleidoscope" on this new tablet's camera has made me reevaluate my feelings about the tablet cam. . Since a small child, I have always been fascinated by Kaleidoscopes and own several of the "real" ones. When I took the new Sony tablet out for a test run with the Kaleidoscope camera setting, I fell in love. None of my other cameras (with all their various gimmicky features have a function to simulate a Kaleidoscope. This feature IMHO is a lot of fun and will provide hours of fun and creativity WITH NO LATER POST PROESSING NEEDED. What you see was all a matter of composition and a bit of camera magic. Since I don't know how the camera actually produces this Kaleidoscope effect, I call it "magic". Obviously, it is really some sort of software program within the camera.
Although I will very seldom ever turn to any tablet to take regular photographs, this new Sony tablet has found a place in my photographic heart with the Kaleidoscope setting.
Plus again, it is also waterproof & can safely be used in the bathtub. This is the first tablet of its kind. And that was why I initially wanted it. The Kaleidoscope camera setting is just a bonus
