Debris from Up River

From the gallery http://www.pbase.com/britestar/2011_flood_of_the_century

Although in most places the Missouri still hasn't risen above the improved flood walls built up to protect the banks at Parkville, you can still see the first signs of what is to come.
The Missouri is moving much, much faster than normal. Plus the river is filled with all kinds of objects (both natural and man made) coming from unknown areas and then rushing at record speed down river. A lot of fallen trees - downed by severe weather elsewhere - are among the debrise. In a few places, there already has been some minor flooding which allows some of this debris to temporarily get stuck before being pushed on again by the force of the moving river.

I sometimes see a trunk of a tree washing up on the beach, and often wonder where it came from. Now I know!

the river level is high, the flow must be powerful! V
