After overtaking the walking trail, the baseball field, Rush Creek & all of English Landing Park (which is almost a certainty), the flood waters must finally cross the Rail Road Tracks before reaching homes and businesses.
Although downtown is a fair distance away from the River itself, that did happen during the Flood of '93. However, the waters quickly receded in '93 and made fast cleaning up & rebuilding possible.
With the Flood of 2011 expected to last for months, the city's best hope this time is stopping the Flood Waters before they enter the town.
