The white on his head indicates that this Juvenile Bald Eagle is making the transformation into Adulthood. By next season, he should be of full breeding age.
This late in the Season, most migrating Eagles have left Missouri.
Therefore, as evening started to fall on the Marsh, I was very surprised to see a youngster sitting in a tree. Despite a fading sun & unwanted back lighting, I stopped my car & shot out the moon roof. Against the odds, I'm pleased that I was able capture this late-staying adolescent.
