Deer in the headlights

Today was a very lazy day. The only reason I got dressed was to walk out back to see what these two were up to. I haven’t seen them in a while so I was beginning to get worried that they may have become roadkill along the highway.

The neighbors on both side of me leave corn out for the deer. Since our back yard butts up against high power lines, it makes it easy for the deer to come and go. One neighbor spends $100 a month of feed for them. Crazy. If I am in a generous mood, I will throw a couple carrots out for the baby ground hog who has built a mansion underneath my deck.

Last night I had a very bad dream about the wild life in my back yard. The ground hog came up to the back door looking for food and started scratch a hole in my screen. While I was out feeding him, bobcats climbed out of the ground hog hole. They didn’t like the carrots I tried to feed them. Then the monkeys wanted in on the party. Shortly after that I woke up. That was enough for me.

Not that I am much of a hunter, but I think I could have hit both of them with one shot from a shot gun seeing that I was only about 20 feet from them. I don't think the neighbors would have liked that too much.
