In August 2011 we flew to Munich in southern Germany and walked and climbed in the Bavarian and Austrian Alps for a lovely three week holiday. Its our first proper visit to the area but we hope to return! We made it up Germany's two highest peaks (Zugspitze and Watzmann) by interesting routes and visited the Austrain Wilder Kaiser and Totes Gebirge ranges amongst others. The mountains rise steeply from the valley and we estimate that we ascended 18,000m in our holiday- we are now resting our knees!
