It was late morning after a long walk on the Navajo Loop trail, and I was returning to the rim when I noticed the shadow of Thor's Hammer on the clean white snow. Indeed, the snow was now brilliantly white under the late morning sun, with no hint of the blues or pinks of earlier in the day. I played around with the composition of this image quite a bit, but prefer this rendition with a tighter shot isolating the three primary elements. In contrast to many of the images in this gallery, this shot really shows off the pure whiteness of the snow...it was very, very intense.
