Winter Landscape

I worked very hard for this photograph. I spent more than 30 minutes in this location trying to find an adequate composition for the exquisite scene which was before me…which was no simple feet given I had already been in the canyon for over 90 minutes walking through snow most of the time. Cold feet. Cold hands. Incredible scenery! Having several unsatisfactory images of this scene under my belt, I took a position a bit higher than I had tried before and the composition fell together very quickly. With my new perspective the sunlit bush in the foreground fell nicely into the shadow of the ridge in the background, and the rest of the image was easy to compose.

Absolutely gorgeous!!!
The textures on the snow in the foreground are superbly enhanced by a perfect exposure.
Excellent choice of angle, the eye wanders from the foreground far into the picture.
A very impressive view, with stunning colours.
The bramble in the very front adds an exquisite touch.

I like this image mainly because of the near and far rock structures and the pine trees, lucklily we don't see your foot prints after all that walking around?

That was 30 minutes well spent, I'd say. Great shot!
