Wave2_3306.jpg

C oyote Buttes

I was somewhat frustrated with myself when I first reached this spot - the entrance to the Wave - as I knew that only moments before the sun had not penetrated into this precious alcove. How I wanted this pond bathed only in indirect light! Oh well, working fast I composed this image, and bracketed over 4 stops to capture the entire range of light. The result shown here is a Photoshop sandwich of two of these images; one exposed for the shadows, and the other exposed more for the sunlit areas. The result is quite satisfying - though I'm still pestered by wondering "What if..."
Photoshop composite of two images. Minor contrast/saturation enhancement.

I like the blue "glow" in the margins of the pool and the exclusion of any direct sky

Except for being exceptional photo it reminds a viking ship reaching the safe shore. Symbol of tranquility.
