Montaigne and Montpazier
Driving from Arsac to Beauregard, we stopped in two places beginning "Mont": Montaigne, home of the sixteenth-century philosopher (his famous tower survived a disastrous fire in 1885), and Montpazier, a very well preserved bastide.
Montaigne: approaching the tower
Montaigne: the tower from the moat
Montaigne: the tower from the courtyard
Montpazier: entering the bastide
Montpazier: the halle (covered market)
Montpazier: gothic windows
Montpazier: sturdy buildings
Montpazier: arcade
Montpazier: looking toward the gate
Montpazier: in front of the church
Montpazier: strange survival
