Tour de Jean sans Peur

The tower of Jean sans Peur (Fearless John), a fifteenth-century duke of Burgundy. After having had his rival, the duke of Orléans, killed, John built this tower to sleep in. His bedchamber, on the top floor, was accessible only through a trap door. At night he hauled up the ladder and posted his most loyal guards below. Fearless, indeed!
