2004-10-23: cathedral

Évry, Essonne (91), France

The interior of the cathedral of Évry, one of the "new cities" built in the Parisian region starting in the 60s. The architect, Mario Botta, built a circular structure of brick-clad concrete. The black-and-white altar and the panel behind it draw the attention of faithful and tourist alike. For the moment, there are more pictures of the cathedral in my pbase inbox.

That is quite a beautiful place...

Quite different from Notre Dame, Ste. Chapelle, and Chartres--but nontheless very interesting.
