Mid-Day Gray

A walk along the Cowichan Estuary.
Another gray day.
Then the rain hit, and yes, it became more gray!
Make that pretty much dark!

"Photo Journal Project Comments"
My attempts to carry my camera bag and gear with me on a recent business trip hit a snag. Six days ago I headed off to the
interior of BC, spending time in Salmon Arm, Vernon and Kelowna.
Two of the planes getting there and back were small turbo-prop planes. Meaning carry on luggage was reduced to a minimum. Such as one bag only.
Which was my brief case. I was not able to bring a camera bag as well.
As I'm not sure how to get around this logistical snag I am considering the concept of using a top quality point-and-shoot size camera.
The Sony RX100M2 has a 1" sensor and is highly rated. I will have to mull this over for a bit.
If you want to take pictures of things that interest you....you have to have a camera at hand.
Its all about compromises. Give up a bit of image quality to make sure you are actually taking images!

Even though the day was grey you still managed to get an attractive image. The composition is lovely. V

Beautifully composed and photographed. I like framing of the darker trees against the light sky and mountains. Nice mood. V.

Great mood and shot, really like what your doing here. Try the PEN E-PM2 mini and Lumix 14mm pancake. Camera sensor is the same as the OM-D. I use this combo a lot on trips. V

An excellent mood here, Brian, and beautifully composed. As I said before, and especially after reading this, the Sony RX100 m2 will solve your problems and serve you quite well! V.

I know the grey skies as well as the problem of the 'one bag' rule. I bought the GX7 as my small camera, so will see how I get on with that.

Kinda wish we had your weather down here. Looks like 2013 is going to be a dry year and talk of drought is not far behind.

Well, your small Oly did a pretty good job here, and I like how you framed the composition. V

The new point and shoot camera's are terrific. Better to have one and not miss the image, Brian. Nice shot on a gray day.

You managed a good image even on a very gray day!

That´s a good idea Brian. Better to have a simple camera at hand to be able to take the pictures you like.V.

This is an annoying situation as one doesn't want to put the expensive gear into the hold. But I've taken some of my best shots with a P&S - and it fits into my purse !!
