New and old pictures of myself and some of my friends doing photography in the fields....
I am an anaesthetist working mainly with Intensive Care in Växjö (south Sweden). Wildlife photography has been a hobby since 1972 and my favourit areas are birds, landscapes, travel and macro.
I am a member of the Swedish organisation " Naturfotograferna / N "(Nature Photographers) since 1990.

Hi Hans,
Very, very impressinve pictures. I am wondering about purchasing the 800mm lens. I currently have a 1Ds MkII and a 1D MkIV, unlike you I am a poor man :-) and can only afford one telephoto lens at this time.

I have the 400mm 2.6 IS on which I use both the 1.4x and 2x convertor. I purchased this lens as I figured that I can still have 800mm at f5.6 which means that all my bodies can still autofocus with speed. I have been struggling with the decision to purchase either the 600mm or 800mm lens to get some more reach. What has your experience been with the 800mm and the convertor attached, are you happy with the results and the focussing speed. I also have a plan to someday purchase a 500mm lens just to keep the weight down.

Finally I see that you are using the Wimberley head, I have been unsure if purchasing this head is worth the expense, would you recommend it?

We are a Breider family coming from Paris but living in Switzerland and excepted our Father and brother and nephew we do't know anybody called Breider in France.
