Riverview is a psychiatric hospital located near Vancouver. In the 1950s there were over 4,600 patients. Today the patients number in the hundreds and the hospital is slated for closure. Many of the buildings are already closed and have fallen into a state of disrepair. These images were taken on the hospital grounds on a gray, snowy December day. On the same day the following headline appeared in the Globe and mail detailing the serious homeless problem in Vancouver.

Many of these homeless suffer from mental illness.
