An extended range CD V-700 geiger counter was produced in the early 1960s that would increase the scale by a factor of ten. The difference was a special GM tube named the OCD-D-101. This tube was less sensitive than the standard 6993 GM tube that is found in the civil defense geiger counter. In addition to the new tube a decal was placed over the top of the standard scale increasing the range by a factor of 10. This special tube was intended to meet the void between the low level CD V-700 and the high range of the CD V-715 and V-717. The extended range CD V-700 covers 0-500 mR/hr and the standard counter is 0-50 mR/hr.
