Excellent choice, Frank. A couple of years ago my kids surprised me with a birthday present of 1 RRS BH-55 sitting on a Gitzo Mountaineer carbon fiber tripod, a awesome, trouble free set-up (though it is heavy; a real drag to lug when hiking). Even when used on dirty-dusty desert adventures the ballhead works smoothly!
