No more black than the White Rhino is white, this is a slightly smaller animal...and much more aggressive. Very rare as are all rhinos due to poaching. This is a pregnant female.
As of November, 2013 the Western subspecies of this rhino is declared extinct. There
have been no sightings since 2006. Hunting and poaching are blamed but it was never
hunting. There were 100s of 1000s of these animals in the 60s when hunting was still
legal and in its heyday. Poaching for the horn which certain ignorant people consider
a medicine and from which other ignorant people like to make dagger handles is what
killed off all of these rhinos.....what a tragedy for the earth.
