The Navajo, in general, aren't that into "fences". Because of that, the horses, if they manage to get past the fences, are pretty much free to go where they like. It's not strange to see a small horse family grazing along the side of the road. There's even horses that basically run wild in the canyon. This fella was cavorting with some horses in a corral when we happened upon him. There is nothing quite so wild and free as a big black horse that goes where he pleases.
