Phuket - Thailand June 2006

It's one and tha half year after the 2004 tsunami. We went to Phuket for a short 3-day trip. According to newspapers, the tourism industry has recovered quite a bit. When we were there however, it was really quiet. I'm not sure if it's due to the fear factor or because it's low season. Maybe the reason could really be a combination of both.

In any case, Phuket survival is almost dependent on tourism dollars. The Thai people has a remarkably resilient spirit as some of these pictures show. But, however strong they are, they can't get back on their own feet without your help. They have school fees to pay and mouths to feed. So, please go...
