I did it !
This is one of the most nerve racking experiences of my life. Giving injection
to Brady (or any animal). The whole process gives me the creeps. What if I
missed and injured him ? The hardest part is to make sure that I inject the
penicilin on the right place. It has to be placed between the skin & the muscles.
The penicilin should not go into the muscles because it will cause complications
and Brady could die from it. Not only that, I have to make sure that I did not
pierce the arteries too. Once the needle was in, the pump has to be pulled to
make sure that there is no blood. So no pressure there ! Oh...the humanity !
Brady was not helping by being mad and nervous too. It seems that he somehow
knows that he needs injection. We tried it for 15 minutes this afternoon and
it did not work out. I lost my nerve after seeing Brady struggling and trying
to escape from my wife's hands. We tried it again later that night and
after a couple of fail pokes, I was ready to give up.
After some encouragements and realizing that Brady really needs this medication,
I gathered my last ounce of bravery and did it. I still feel bad about it and I
felt that Brady is not happy with me. I still have to do this 13 more times and
I hope I don't screw it up somewhere.
