Actually, it's across the river on the Thonburi side. Take Saphan Phut toward Thonburi and cross the Phra Pok Klao Bridge or the Phra Buddha Yodfa Bridge (the bridges run parallel across the river).
Now, keep watch on your right (north side of the street). It's easy to spot, look for the two large stone turtles at the entrance.
The Thai name for the Temple is Wat Prayun Wongsawat.
(My apologies for my previously posted incorrect directions and thanks to Melissa for correcting me.)
actually, Thanon Saphan Phut is the riverside road that goes under the 2 bridges, near the Phak klong market. The easiest way is to get a ferry to the Saphan phut ferry pier, then look up at the nearest bridge (Phra Buddha Yodfa a.k.a Memorial bridge). Cross over the river, keeping to the right/northern side, and you should see it fairly easily.

Hi,
I saw the Turtle Temple on TV and then used your website to get directions on how to get to the Turtle Temple. I have loved turtles for over 15 years and was curious to go. I just wanted to let you know that I recently just visited Thailand and used your website to get to the Turtle Temple. However, I encountered some problems along the way using your directions.
"Actually, it's across the river on the Thonburi side. Take Sathon Nua or Sathon Tai to the Taksin Bridge. Once over keep watch on your right (north side of the street). It's easy to spot..."
your directions
1) Yes, it is across the river on the Thonburi side
2) It is not the Sathon Nua or Sathon Thai, actually it is the Saphan Phut
3) Then cross the Phra Pok Klao Bridge or the Phra Buddha Yodfa Bridge, not the Taksin
Bridge
4) Now you would keep watch on your ride (north side of the street), yes it is easy to
spot...
5) The Thai name for the Temple is Wat Prayun Wongsawat, this might help tourists
looking for it
I only found the Temple after asking a lady on the street and then referring to my map. I had almost given up hope. After using your directions, I was looking at a Pepsi factory.
We ended up taking a Tuk Tuk to the temple on the map and we came right to the temple. Your website it very nice, but maybe you should correct the directions.
Sorry, for the trouble, but THANK YOU for steering my in the right direction to get closer to one of my dreams. :)
