Anza Borrego, California

A heavy rainfall in the desert of Anza Borrego in Southern California in 2005 produced a rare carpet of desert flowers.
The area name is from Juan Bautista de Anza, a Spanish settler here, and Borrego means lamb, often interpreted as mountain goat.
