Message from Bob McColley
My interest in photography began as a teen when I helped a friend shoot a few weddings using a Speed Graphic press camera. My first camera was a Kodak Bantam and I have progressed through the years shooting 35mm film. After retirement I joined the camera club here in Sun City, Arizona where I learned darkroom printing. About three years ago I bought a Canon Digital Rebel and now wish I could go back and re shoot my favorite places using digital.
I have always liked to shoot flowers and landscapes. My working years were in Michigan but now that I live in the southwestern USA, I have discovered just how beautiful and varied are cacti. The southern part of Arizona is located in the Sonoran desert. It is is called a green desert and is not as barren as most deserts. We are able to grow a great variety of crops, flowers and cacti – the Saguaro cactus is a signature of the Sonoran desert. You should see how the roses grow here! There are thousands of acres of roses grown commercially just a few miles from where I live.
My goal is to become a better photographer, not just a snap shooter. I shoot mostly in RAW, enjoy computer processing my images and printing on an Epson 2400 photo printer. I also don’t miss one minute of working in the darkroom.
I welcome help from anyone and look forward to a critique of my images.
