Shots from around the Dawson Cemetery, near the abandoned ghost town of Dawson NM, about 35 miles south and west of Raton. Starting in 1901 and ending in 1950, this was a very successful and - at times - bustling coal mining town. But it disappeared after the last mine closed. At one point between 7000-9000 people called this very remote spot home. The cemetery features hundreds of white iron crosses that commemorate more than 400 miners who died in two separate mine disasters in 1913 and 1923.
