Rio Grande River Gorge, Taos NM
Note the darker gray in the middle of the sky. This was an inbound thunderstorm. It was beginning to sprinkle on us as I took this and I was having a hard time thinking of the photo for worry about my new camera getting wet but yet I could not just put it up and walk away. I took 3 quick ones after this and then ran the half mile back to the truck just the rain really started.

While considerably smaller than the Grand Canyon, I find this one in some ways just as impressive. We were driving through open flat desert and suddenly there was this huge hole in the ground. There had been little or no evidence of it until we were literally within sight of the bridge off which this photo was taken.
